MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Students from the Overtown Youth Center faced off against City of Miami Police officers in a charity basketball game.
The game was organized by the police department Saturday with the intent of helping create a better relationship between the city’s youth and officers in the community.
“Our police department has their own basketball team, so we are playing a basketball game with the children of the community in order to forge and enhance the relationship we have with the children of our community,” said Sgt. Roger Jackson.
The Overtown Youth Center provides after-school programs, computer labs and sport options which are all meant to keep kids safe and off the street.
