MIAMI (WSVN) — A former Miami Heat star spent the day handing out meals to more than 400 families in Miami.

Current team executive, Alonzo Mourning, hosted the 15th Annual “33 Thanksgivings,” Tuesday. The Hall-of-Famer spent his morning preparing the meals at a local Publix and his afternoon handing them out at the Overtown Youth Center.

“We’re excited about this time of year because it allows people to come together and understand the importance of giving back,” said Mourning, “and I think if everybody had that mentality, our community would be a better place of living.”

With the help of Fed-Ex and Publix, families received all of the ingredients for a perfect dinner. The hearty meals included a Turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing.
