The Overtown Youth Center & Honey Shine Inc. offers a wide range of services, including substance abuse prevention. These preventive services are embedded in the agency’s Social Emotional Learning Initiative (SEL) which addresses social drivers of health in Overtown and neighboring communities by bringing together the agency’s SEL efforts in a comprehensive youth development framework. The substance abuse prevention component improves health equity amongst our target population of students.
Our new partnership with the Salah Foundation allows us to provide program services for year-round hands on engagement in substance abuse prevention including; Too Good for Drugs curriculum, digital devices to support student projects, braided community supports such as access to mental health and drug treatment specialists, staff training, and community based program delivery. Additionally, the program offers wraparound supports, counseling referrals and intervention services support, as well as transportation needs.
We are excited about the opportunity to expand and strengthen our service delivery to impact many more lives. THANK YOU SALAH FOUNDATION!
