Keysha Martinez has continued to grow into a resilient, confident, and determined young woman throughout her journey with OYC Miami.
This fall, she will attend Miami Dade College where she plans to major in nursing and continue pursuing her passion for helping others.
“Overtown Youth Center has impacted my life in many ways. I met my closest friends and mentors at OYC, and it has been a very influential part of my life.”
Through mentorship, friendship, and perseverance, Keysha has learned to face challenges head on while continuing to believe in herself and her future. We are proud of all she has overcome and excited for all that lies ahead. 💙

From classrooms to community leadership, Alana Johnson has truly embodied what it means to grow with purpose. 💙
Ranked in the top 2% of her graduating class at Miami Edison Senior High School, Alana graduates with honors after balancing JROTC, flag football, OYC Miami, and a part time position at Lotus House. After graduation, she will officially begin her next chapter by joining the Army.
For more than 10 years, Alana has been a part of the OYC Miami family, growing into a confident and driven young woman committed to giving back and mentoring future generations of OYC students.

While balancing school and a part time job, Uriah remained committed to her personal growth and future goals. This fall, she will attend Miami Dade College where she plans to pursue nursing.

As an active participant in both OYC Miami and AmeriCorps, Marcel has consistently poured into younger students by mentoring and assisting with basketball coaching throughout the season.
This fall, he will attend Robert Morgan Educational Center where he plans to pursue his HVAC certification and continue building his future in the skilled trades.

Christopher Petit-Homme is proof of what dedication, leadership, and purpose can accomplish. Graduating with honors from William H. Turner Technical Arts High School, Christopher has excelled academically while actively participating in HOSA and serving as a Teacher Aide mentoring younger students.
In addition to earning his high school diploma, Christopher also earned his Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade College and secured more than $300,000 in scholarships. He will continue his academic journey this fall at the University of Miami.
“My experience with OYC Miami has been life changing. Overtown Youth Center is more than a program, it’s a family that supports and uplifts the next generation.”
Christopher’s commitment to service, mentorship, and community continues to inspire those around him. We cannot wait to see all he accomplishes next. 💙

UM medical students from Beyond Barriers joined OYC Miami during our after school program, giving our youth a firsthand look into the journey toward careers in medicine and healthcare.
Students had the opportunity to learn about the college experience, the path to medical school, and the dedication it takes to pursue careers in the medical field. The experience also included hands-on activities such as CPR demonstrations, reflex checks, listening to heartbeats, treating a broken ankle, practicing stitches, and more.
Moments like this bring learning to life, allowing our youth to explore new career paths, build confidence, and engage directly with professionals who are helping shape the next generation of leaders in healthcare.

OYC Miami high school students had the opportunity to attend the Coca-Cola x FIFA Trophy Tour event at FIU, experiencing the excitement and energy surrounding one of the world’s most celebrated sporting events. ⚽💙

Recently, during our after school program, The Children’s Trust Youth Advisory Committee took over OYC Miami with a day full of engaging and interactive experiences for our youth and families. 💙
Students participated in hands-on STEM activities, including designing and making parachutes, along with fitness and movement sessions and culinary experiences that encouraged creativity, teamwork, and exploration. Families were also included through take-home activities shared with parents during pickup, creating opportunities for continued connection and learning beyond the classroom.
