OYC High school students were suited up for a powerful day of learning with the @miamibeachfire and @miamifirerescue . Through hands-on activities—from carrying fire hoses up and down stairwells to targeting water streams—they gained a deeper understanding of fire safety, teamwork, and emergency response.
This enriching experience exposed our youth to new career pathways, sparked curiosity, and helped them look ahead to what’s possible in their futures.
Thank you to the firefighters and staff who created such a memorable and inspiring experience! 🚒🔥

OYC Miami was excited to welcome @cityofhollywoodfl @joshlevymayorofhollywoodfl and City of Hollywood officials, who recently toured our facility. Guided by our founder Alonzo Mourning, CEO Tina Brown, OYC Miami Board Member Arshi Siddiqui Meek and dedicated OYC Miami staff, they learned firsthand about the impactful work OYC is doing across South Florida, and the power of partnerships, and the programs that support youth and families.
From our health and wellness, economic sustainability to family support and our state-of-the-art STEM spaces, our visitors saw the intentional ways OYC is helping people discover their passions and pursue brighter futures.

The Rise Up with OYC Miami Pitch Competition was a powerful evening of purpose and possibility! Seven inspiring entrepreneurs—Aaden & Addi Sweet Treats, M. Rose Designs, Historic Overtown Colored Town, The Drop, BX, Generation Nexxt Training, and Sacred Flavors—took the stage to pitch their dreams for a share of $25,000 in prizes.
The program kicked off with opening remarks from Tina Brown, and featured moving words from OYC Founder Alonzo Mourning, who reminded us that when we invest in ideas, we invest in transformation.
A heartfelt thank you to our incredible judges: Allen Furst, Michael Rose, Felecia Hatcher, and David Zinn—and to Jared Kaplan and Steve Zuckerman for guiding our finalists with expert mentorship throughout the journey.
At OYC Miami, we believe in building pathways to Economic Sustainability—and this pitch competition proved just how bright the future can be when bold ideas are met with the right support.

OYC Miami recently celebrated the unveiling of the AshBritt STEM Lab powered by @bankunited.official with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The STEM Lab continues to serve as an integral part of OYC, providing a space for hands-on creativity, innovation, and collaboration.

This interactive session, “AI: The Superpower You Didn’t Know You Had,” explored how AI tools can support marketing innovation, outreach, and passion projects—equipping our team with new skills to enhance creativity and efficiency.

The last Super Saturday was Super-rrific! 🌟 🦸🏾♀️🦸🏻♂️🦸🏼🦸🏽♀️Youth enjoyed fun and engaging STEM activities and an exciting enrichment session with Zoo Miami, while parents participated in meaningful health and wellness initiatives—connecting with vendors on topics such as bereavement, mental health, and overall wellness. Families also joined in the launch of our OnMed 5-Minute Blood Pressure Challenge, taking steps toward understanding and improving their health, and received free books and clothing to support family well-being.
A huge thank-you to Asha Wedemier-Allan, her husband Shawn, and the Akerman LLP team for volunteering their time and for their generous donation, which helps us continue to create programs that uplift and empower youth and families.
We’re also grateful to our incredible educational and health partners for helping us make this Super Saturday a day of learning, connection, and community impact. Together, we’re building stronger, healthier communities—one Super Saturday at a time. 💙

Our staff proudly is showing solidarity and support for Breast Cancer Awareness, by not only wearing pink but also raising money to support breast cancer research and spreading awareness about the importance of screenings and early detection.
Health and wellness are core to our mission, and we stand in together with survivors, families, and everyone impacted by breast cancer. With every step, we move closer to a future filled with hope, healing, and healthier communities. 💗
