🗣️ Youth voices were front and center at OYC Miami during @closeup_dc A Day of Deliberative Dialogue.
Students engaged in meaningful, solution focused conversations, workshops, alongside an inspiring panel of leaders including Miami’s first female @mayoreileenhiggins, former Congressman Kendrick Meek, former Congresswoman @roslehtinen, Thomas Spulak, and Julia Richardson. Each shared personal experiences and powerful insights on leadership, service, and the importance of civic duty.
Through thoughtful discussion and respectful exchange, our youth explored real world issues and learned that informed participation is not just a right, it is a responsibility.
At OYC Miami, inspiring civic engagement means creating spaces where young people understand that their voice carries weight and their involvement helps shape the future.

Ready to earn, learn, and grow this summer? OYC Miami is now accepting applications for our Summer Internship Program. Earn $15 an hour, gain real world experience, and build lifelong financial skills this summer.
Youth between the ages of 14 and 25 and living in the City of Miami, Overtown, Liberty City, Little Haiti, Miramar, or Hollywood are encouraged to apply. All youth must have a bank account and a government issued ID with a home address or a school photo ID.

The music journey is happening throughout our classroom spaces, where students are learning melody, rhythm, and timing as they tap out tunes on the xylophone and bring each note to life. Guided instruction, focused listening, and hands on practice are turning simple sounds into powerful expression.
This creative journey is facilitated by @wethebestfoundation powered by @playingforchangefoundation with instruction provided in partnership with @guitarsoverguns . Together, they are helping young artists explore their voice, sharpen their skills, and build confidence through music.

Our OYC Parent Club came together for a hands on dessert class, learning how to create beautiful chocolate dipped strawberries, pretzels, and festive Valentine’s treats.
From dipping and decorating to laughing and connecting, the evening was filled with creativity and community. Experiences like this remind us that parent engagement is about more than participation, it is about building relationships and sharing joy.

The Standard Soirée was more than a celebration. It was a meaningful day of growth, confidence, and connection. 💗✨
Hosted in collaboration with @honeyshineinc and Band of Brothers, this special Valentine’s season gathering created space for youth to explore healthy relationships, self awareness, and positive social interactions in an engaging and uplifting environment.
From an open and honest Teen Talk where students spoke candidly about their feelings, to a Confidence Corner focused on building self esteem, and an etiquette class centered on dining and respectful interactions, each experience reinforced how young men and young women should treat one another with dignity, kindness, and respect.
A beautiful highlight of the day was watching the young men thoughtfully present the young ladies with roses, modeling courtesy, confidence, and care in action.
At OYC Miami, enrichment and empowerment go hand in hand. The Standard Soirée blended fun with foundational life skills, reminding our youth that setting the standard begins with character.
