OYC Miami high school students teamed up with youth from Touching Miami with Love for a powerful, hands-on exploration of firefighting careers—thanks to immersive sessions hosted by Miami Beach Fire, Miami Fire Rescue, and the Miami-Dade Fire Academy.

From climbing stairwells with fire hoses to mastering water stream techniques, students got a firsthand look at the physical and mental demands of emergency response. Alongside fire safety and teamwork, they gained a deeper understanding of the professional opportunities available in public safety and emergency services.

By exposing our youth to viable career pathways and expanding their access to workforce experiences, this event directly supports OYC’s Pillar of Economic Sustainability—ensuring young people are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in today’s economy.
