About the Program

IE2 is an initiative designed to expose students as early as Kindergarten to college, career, and vocational concepts.

OYC Miami’s goal is to ensure that by 11th grade every high school participant has declared a post-high path and by the end of OYC Miami’s program term (age 25) that there is a high probability of success ensuring that participants can sustain themselves and their families from an economic perspective.

IE2’s programming includes a professional speaker series, test preparation services, leadership program opportunities, college, career and vocational tours and experiences.

Year-round College and Career Readiness programming is provided to promising youth residing in under-resourced communities with the goal of increasing their knowledge of college and career options, providing jobs and internships, improving financial literacy, and promoting civic engagement.

Workshops that we offer through this program:

Job Readiness

This workshop series provides participants with hard and soft workforce skills training, mock interviews, and insight on appropriate workplace attire. Community professionals also share tips for a successful transition into both college and the workforce.

Resume Building

These resume development workshops guide young adults as they produce & edit their resumes in preparation for the world of work. The process builds an understanding of different resume formats and explores how to tailor resumes for specific job searches.

FAFSA Workshop

Funding college can be intense for students and families. This workshop series helps college applicants and their families navigate the FAFSA process. OYC Success Coaches are available year round to provide comprehensive support for completing the FAFSA application and accessing the various benefits of the FAFSA platform.

Financial Literacy

This workshop series teaches budgeting, savings, and insight on financing post-secondary goals.

College Tours

Each spring, eligible students attend a 4-day College Tour visiting colleges and universities throughout the country.

The tours engage current undergraduate and graduate students at each site to spark OYC student interest and expose them to college life.

School visits include tours of colleges that match student career interests and important cultural landmarks at each city they visit.  Visits to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) also take place annually.

Service Projects

We are very proud to have an impressive number of college students support us on college tours. It is our intent to engage current undergraduate and graduate students on these tours, allowing them to offer up advice and information on their experience so that high school students are able to witness recent examples of a Positive Contributing Citizen.

Social Events

OYC frequently invites post-high school members to dinners, desserts and other social gatherings to nurture and strengthen their bond with each other.

College and Career Specialists track all graduates until they are 25 years old to ensure they remain connected to OYC and their peers during this crucial life phase.
